AA Architecture develops architectural projects around the relationship between a building, its setting and the people who use it. Our Istanbul studio works with residential, commercial and mixed-use briefs. The starting point is a clear understanding of the site, the required spaces and the decisions that will shape the project from concept to construction.
From the brief to a coherent building
Architecture involves more than an exterior image. Circulation, privacy, daylight, access and the relationship between indoor and outdoor space need to work together. We use the brief to establish priorities, compare design directions and explain how a proposal responds to its context.
For a new home, that may mean separating guest and family areas. For a larger development, it may involve the arrangement of buildings and shared spaces. The scale and level of documentation are defined for each commission.
Possible scope and design outputs
Depending on the agreed appointment, the work may include:
- Reviewing the available site information and establishing a spatial brief.
- Developing concepts, massing studies and proposed layouts.
- Preparing drawings and visual material for design discussion and approval.
- Developing selected architectural details and coordinating interfaces with other project contributors.
- Supporting the transition toward construction through agreed coordination and site involvement.
The project agreement identifies the drawing stages, review points and responsibilities. Specialist studies, approvals and construction activities are addressed according to the project’s location and the appointed parties; their inclusion is established before work begins.
