Planning around everyday use
We begin with the activities that the interior needs to support. A home may require different settings for gathering, sleeping, study and storage. A café needs a clear relationship between its counter, seating and circulation, while an office brings working areas and visitor spaces together.
Understanding these relationships helps establish priorities before finishes are selected. Existing drawings, measurements and information about elements to retain provide a starting point; the necessary survey and documentation are agreed for the individual project.
Design outputs to agree at the outset
An interior design appointment may include:
- A functional brief and proposals for room or furniture layouts.
- A design concept supported by material, colour and lighting references.
- Drawings and visualisations that explain selected spaces and design decisions.
- Details for agreed interior elements, such as integrated furniture and wall treatments.
